Popular Vintage Fountain Restored to Former Glory With High-Tech, Energy-Efficient Makeover
When the "Electric Fountain" was first built in 1929 on Government Hill in St. Louis' Forest Park, it was considered a marvel of technology. Its multi-colored underwater lights were an unheard of feature for the day. However, with time, the fountain's colors faded and its once-exuberant jets faltered. The mechanism could not be satisfactorily repaired.
